This month we shine the spotlight on one of our Barre teachers – Naomi – she herself is used to centre stage having danced professionally in… Spain, India, South Africa and Australia, which is where her career moved into the fitness world, becoming a personal trainer.

Naomi began dancing aged 3, studying ballet with The Florian School of dance in Winchester. During her teenage years she was a senior associate at The Urdang Academy in Convent Garden before gaining a place on the degree course at Bird Dance college, training professionally in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary dance, singing and acting. 

Whilst studying her massage diploma in Sydney she discovered barre classes. It was the perfect mix of ballet and fitness that she loved. She saw the joy of ballet became more accessible and the class created a productive hour of movement; strength, flexibility, balance, posture work as well as successfully focusing the mind inwards and creating positive bodily awareness. She soon trained as an instructor and 2023 marks her 10th year teaching barre!

Naomi loves to bring her love of classical ballet to her classes. Incorporating as many classical ballet positions as possible, to allow everyone to feel graceful, strong and proud of their body. 

Other than attending the theatre, Naomi’s other passion is sailing. She regularly heads to the water with her family to sail, swim or paddle board and as part of an all female crew, sailed across the Atlantic in 2017.

Cardio Barre … a fitness focused interval training program using barre exercises to strengthen the posture mixed with cardio sections.

Barre …her signature power barre class mixing a ballet inspired centre warm up, focused weight section, barre work and floor exercises. It is an up tempo class suitable for those with some previous experience.

Strength & Technique Barre… this class is a slower paced class focusing more on the classical ballet technique found in barre classes and has no cardio. It is great for building postural awareness, strength and muscular endurance. Suitable for beginners.
