Station Mill is celebrating its 5th Birthday!
With nearly 500 members across the gym and studios we are so happy to have reached this milestone. Thinking back to opening in the autumn following our first lockdown, our Club Director reminded us that 5 years ago we were busy filling up our first bottles of anti-bac spray – and then quickly added times haven’t changed much ;). Many, many, refills later we are busier than ever and have become a part of the Alresford community.
Our gym membership sits at or around capacity. We still have those quiet periods but thinking back to covid times some of our founding members must remember those sessions when the gym was their own. Our water fountain, which is activated by pressing your thigh into the front of the sink – completely hands free, is a quiet reminder of 2020, but the community, chat and bustle certainly isn’t.
We have a steady timetable across our studios, with Mind & Body teachers settling in and becoming part of a long-standing team. We have worked out the best time to run classes, we think we have the best teachers to teach those classes, and we also support all our teachers to continue their professional development. From the original Barre team, Clare Neave is now a Reformer Pilates teacher, from the yoga team, Rowena is now a Yoga Therapist, and we hope that we continue to recruit the best teachers for our community.
Our PT/Coaching team has only been bolstered by the addition of Jack and Ellen. Candice has added senior qualifications in TRX and Calisthenics, whilst Ellen is busy finishing her PT qualification and looking after gym members. Joe, Jack and Scott continue to add new strings to their bow; Joe trains hard in MMA when he’s not a PT at SM, Jack runs increasingly long distances, with a full PT diary, and we are not sure what Scott does but he always tells us its important…
In testament to Scott’s ambition to create a gym and wellness centre that’s focus is on the personal experience results are seen daily across the gym floor and in studios from our members. Not only are The Front-of – House and Coaching Staff retained, they are encouraged to know the names of the 500 people that walk through the doors. We endeavour to build connections with our members and to support them in their efforts to increase strength, mobility and fitness levels.
Looking ahead, Scott promises some class innovation (think more equipment and some new offerings), kit replenishment in the gym, and the continued high level of service that you have come to expect from Station Mill.
